Anti-Bullying Staff Implementation
Actively Supervise Students in All Settings
- Provide intentional supervision in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, cafeterias, buses, and during transitions
- Position themselves to observe student interactions, not just manage routines
Intervene Immediately When Bullying Is Observed or Reported
- Stop bullying behavior promptly and calmly
- Support the targeted student and ensure safety
- Avoid minimizing or ignoring verbal, social, or relational bullying
Consistently Report and Document Bullying Incidents
- Follow school procedures for documenting and reporting bullying
- Report incidents involving students with disabilities with the same urgency and detail
- Share relevant information with administrators promptly
Use Inclusive and Respectful Language
- Model respectful communication at all times
- Avoid language or behavior that could stigmatize students with disabilities
- Correct inappropriate language or teasing immediately
Teach and Reinforce Anti-Bullying Expectations
- Explicitly teach schoolwide behavior expectations related to respect and kindness
- Reinforce positive peer interactions through praise and feedback
- Embed social-emotional and inclusion lessons into daily instruction
Support Students Who Are Targeted by Bullying
- Check in regularly with students who may be vulnerable or isolated
- Encourage and support self-advocacy and reporting
- Collaborate with support staff (special education, counselors, behavior specialists) .
Encourage and Empower Bystanders
- Teach students how to safely intervene or report bullying
- Reinforce positive bystander behavior
- Create a classroom climate where speaking up is encouraged
Participate in Ongoing Training and Reflection
- Attend required professional development on bullying prevention
- Reflect on supervision and response practices
- Apply feedback from administrators or coaches .
